EMDR Intensives

Thank you for being here and considering work with me.

I support anxious individuals who have made their needs smaller for that of others and want to experience more peace within themselves.

What is it & How it works

EMDR Intensives are a streamlined trauma technique experience where you get to:

  • Have extended time to process and work through present issues and concerns.

  • Dive deeper into discussion because we are not constrained by time.

  • Experience breakthroughs in just a few sessions that would usually take YEARS.

  • Uncover patterns and themes that may take weeks, months or years to get to with scheduling.

Purpose of Treatment

The purpose of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is to assist individuals in processing and healing from trauma, past distressing experiences, and other psychological issues. During EMDR intensives, multiple therapy sessions may be condensed into a shorter timeframe, allowing for more focused and intensive processing.

Nature of EMDR Intensives

EMDR intensives are structured sessions designed to process trauma-related memories and help you move toward emotional healing. These intensives typically involve several hours of therapy per day over a few days. This format may be different from traditional weekly therapy sessions and is designed to accelerate the healing process for clients who are ready to engage in intensive, concentrated work. While EMDR can be highly effective, it may bring up intense emotions and memories during or after the sessions.

FAQs:

How does scheduling an EMDR Intensive work? Intensives are scheduled with an assessment (1.5-2 hours), subsequent resourcing sessions (2-4 60 minute sessions), and full day session(s) based on the assessment recommendations.

What are the benefits/risks of EMDR Intensives? EMDR is generally considered a safe and effective therapeutic approach. However, it is important to understand that intensive therapy may lead to heightened emotional responses, reactivation of traumatic memories, and temporary emotional discomfort. You may also experience feelings of relief and empowerment as old patterns are addressed. Some individuals may experience temporary disturbances, including but not limited to, increased anxiety, nightmares, or emotional overwhelm.

What is the commitment to EMDR Intensives? It is essential for clients participating in EMDR intensives to be emotionally prepared for the process. Intensive EMDR work requires commitment and readiness to process significant emotional material. You will be expected to participate actively, follow the therapist’s guidance, and be open to the experience. The length and depth of the intensive work will be discussed with your therapist prior to beginning the treatment.
